Help with Gimp Again...

I need help with Gimp pretty badly. I don't know how to edit it after i saved it, then I re-open the sig. I do make layers every time I make something different, but If I save the sig, close it, then open it again, it won't show the layers I made. Please help me, I want to know how to edit stuff -_-

After I finish working on a sig, I save it in the Photoshop format (.psd) and in .png. I believe the gimp format is something like .xfc or something with an .x??

So I would be able to edit the layers if I saved it as .xfc?

Yes. Use the .xfc file for any adjustments needed and use the .png file to show the finished product. .png is the higest quality and smallest file size.

It's .xcf btw. Wait, can I rename a sig I already made, to a xcf file? Would it still work?

No. Once you save a file as anything other than .xcf it compresses into one layer.
