Here is a little something that was posted on facebook that i thought i would share.................. Two Marines were refused service at Charly's Philly Steaks by anti-war employee in Stockton CA. The two Marines walked up to order lunch, the manager refused to serve them, she stated that they represented the war and she would not serve anyone in UNIFORM.............Next is the corporate response Statement
from Charley's - May 14, 2010

Hello again everyone. Thanks for your patience. We know many of you
have been politely awaiting more information on this subject. As we
posted earlier this
week , we were surprised and saddened to hear reports about an
incident at an independently owned and operated Charley’s restaurant in
California.

Charley’s contacted the people who may have been involved in or
witnessed the rude treatment of uniformed military personnel at that
restaurant, as well as the franchise owner, to investigate and gather
the details of the situation.

Jian Ortman, the Franchise Owner of the location in question, has
publicly issued this
statement about the incident:

“Military recruiters came to our restaurant and had a long conversation
with our employee. We asked them to take their conversation outside of
the restaurant because our employee was working. We did not refuse to
serve the soldiers. We told the soldiers that we support our troops, but
do not support the war. I meant no insult to the men and women that put
their lives in harm's way to protect our freedom.”

After conducting a thorough investigation, Charley's has learned that
the situation, as initially reported online, appears to have been a
misunderstanding. The men were not refused service. We continue to be
committed to the men and women in uniform that serve our country. We're
proud to have 100 locations on military bases (1 out of every 4 of our
stores) around the world and serve those in the armed forces every
single day. Thank you all for your comments, concerns and feedback. We
truly value the passion that has been shared with us this week and look
forward to the opportunity to earn your business.......TO me the corporate response is just a cover thy butt, and shift blame somewhere else, what would they do if every Military base decided to boycott their restaurants.

If the statement is true, I agree with the decision to not allow the recruiters talk to the employee. It's like you working at home depot, and someone from lowes coming to try to get you to work for them -- while you're on the job.

You also didn't mention the fact that these marines were given a 10% discount on their meal! In reading that story, It didn't seem to me they were refused service at all..They were asked to carry their military related conversation outside.

I agree, you did neglect to mention certain details. But I think that maybe instead of the manager not allowing the recruiters to talk to the employee is a bit harsh. the manager could have let the employee take a break and go talk to the marine recruiters, because a recruiter will not go up to someone and start giving them information with out the person their talking to wanted the information first. So im thinking maybe the employee wanted information about the Marine Corps. But the threats people are making are stupid, and they obviously dont know the whole story

I agree with Odin, I find it highly unlikely the recruiters just walked in and started talking to the employee after never having talked before. So someone should get the FULL story before we go bashing everyone

I my experience living in the city that houses the largest naval base in the world, I have learned that recruiters do very often start talking to someone without knowing them prior to the conversation..They are very pushy with the military..and on a side note, they often lie to get people to join [promising you this or that.] I'm not bashing the military [I will most likely join the Army], I'm just stating a fact.

They do not actually lie, they are telling you all the benefits, without telling you much of the negative side. Granted they will sometimes leave out the whole story when you promise something, so it looks like you will get it, but in the end have something different. I have numerous friends in the Marines and Navy, and plan on enlisting in the Marines after my first year of college, maybe even before.
